Truex wins 2005 NASCAR Busch Series championship

Staurday wasn't looking like a very good day for Martin Truex Jr. to clinch his second NASCAR Busch Series championship. First, Truex crashed his #8 Bass Bro Shops Chevy on his qualifying run and had to start in the back of the field in a backup car. Then after coming up through the field early in the race, Truex had to make an unscheduled pit stop for loose lug nuts. This put him a lap down. Fortunately, Truex's luck took a turn for the better. He got his lap back and was able to finish in the top ten, which is what he needed to do to win the championship. If his bad luck had continued, Clint Bowyer could have won the championship in the #2 AC Delco Chevy as he finished in the top ten. But Truex perservered and won the 2005 NASCAR Busch Series championship. Congratulations. The race was won by pole sitter Ryan Newman in the #39 Alltel Dodge. He passed Greg Biffle in the #66 Royal Office Products Ford on the last restart to win the race.
