NASCAR's Casey Mears part of 24 Hours of Daytona winning team

NASCAR Nextel Cup driver Casey Mears (#42 Texaco Dodge) was one of the winning drivers in this weekend's Rolex 24 Hours of Daytona along with 2005 IRL & Indy 500 champ Dan Wheldon and IRL driver Scott Dixon. Believe it or not, this is the first time non-regulars have won this race.

The Daytona race has become very popular with the NASCAR boys because it's just before their season starts and they're itching to get on the track. With the exception of Bobby Labonte, it's a one shot for all of them. Bobby has an ownership stake in the car he was driving.

After almost winning this race the last two years, 2005 Nextel Cup champ Tony Stewart just didn't have a car that could run up front. Danica Patrick & Rusty Wallace did have a car that could run up front but the engine blew up. All the other NASCAR boys in the race had mechanical problems.

Congratulations to car owner Chip Ganassi and drivers Dan Wheldon, Scott Dixon & Casey Mears. Casey will definitely have bragging rights in the NASCAR garage.
