Yahoo LAUNCHCAST song of the day

Artist:Charlie Parker
Song:JATP Blues
Album:Bird:Complete On Verve

Of course Charlie Parker is likely the most influential jazz saxophonist in history. This 10CD box set covers his entire recorded output on Verve Records from 1949-1954. But it also includes Parker's participation in the Jazz At The Philharmonic concerts promoted by Verve owner Norman Granz. JATP Blues is from the 1946 concert and also features Dizzy Gillespie, Lester Young & Coleman Hawkins along with Parker. The JATP concerts were freewheeling jam sessions and are fun to listen to. These guys were great at improvising and that's what JATP Blues is all about. Sixty years old and this track still sounds fresh.
