Tracy announces 2007 NASCAR plans, more open wheel drivers to NASCAR

Toronto native Paul Tracy ran his final NASCAR Busch Series race of this season Saturday night in California. He was driving the #34 Sport Clips Chevy for Frank Cicci. Tracy crashed and finished 42nd. On Friday, Tracy announced that he will run a limited Busch Series schedule in 2007 for D'Hondt-Riley Motorsports. He will bring the Sports Clips sponsorship with him. D'Hondt-Riley is a new team from former Robert Yates Racing team manager Eddie D'Hondt. They will run Toyotas. Tracy doesn't know his CHAMP car schedule and will plan his Busch Series races around that. He said they might run a couple of Nextel Cup races too.

Meanwhile, it is being reported that Tracy's teammate in CHAMP A.J. Allmendinger has tested a Craftsman Truck for Bill Davis Racing and will make his NASCAR debut in a Toyota at New Hampshire on Sept. 16. He's a very talented young driver but has never raced stock cars. Also, current IRL points leader Sam Hornish Jr. has been testing a Dodge for his IRL car owner Roger Penske. He is likely to run a combination of Busch Series & ARCA races for Penske in 2007. The open wheel guys want the money so they're coming to NASCAR.
