Yahoo LAUNCHCAST song of the day

Artist:Derek & The Dominos
Song:Bell Bottom Blues
Album:Layla & Other Assorted Love Songs

There's no question that over the years Eric Clapton has been one of the most respected and popular guitarists around. After the disappointment of Blind Faith, he put together a group with former Delaney & Bonnie & Friends musicians Bobby Whitlock (keyboards), Carl Radle (bass) & Jim Gordon (drums). Master guitarist Duane Allman sat in on the Layla album though he wasn't on Bell Bottom Blues. Clapton has tended to be lazy so having Allman to kick his butt in the studio seemed to motivate him to new heights. The album did reasonably well and the group was going to record a second record but Clapton was addicted to heroin and was involved in a love triangle with Patti & George Harrison so it was never finished. Then Allman died in a motorcycle accident. Layla has become a classic of mythic proportions and I don't think Clapton has come close to those heights again.
