Yahoo LAUNCHCAST song of the day

Artist:Rahsaan Patterson

Song:Soul Free

Album:Rahsaan Patterson

R & B singer songwriter Rahsaan Patterson started out as a child in the 80s TV show Kids Incorporated. He's not the only one. Stacy "Fergie" Ferguson was on that show too. As Rahsaan grew up, he started to get a reputation as a songwriter & vocalist in the Los Angeles R & B scene. This got him a contract at MCA and resulted in this CD in 1997. American Idol's Randy Jackson was executive producer. He was head of A & R at MCA at the time. Patterson's music is very much influenced by 70s Stevie Wonder and that's a good thing. There are none of the gimmicks that turn up on most R & B records these days. He was dumped by MCA after two records that didn't sell. I don't think he ever did a video and videos are important. Patterson continued to work as a vocal arranger when he signed with the British label Dome in 2004. His album After Hours was released by Artistry Records in 2005. It just goes to show that it takes more than talent to be a successful recording artist these days.
