Of course Julian "Cannonball" Adderley is one of the best jazz alto sax players ever. This version of his classic Work Song was recorded live at the International Jazz Festival in Comblain-La-Tour, Belgium on Aug. 5, 1962. Musicians include Cannonball's brother Nat Adderley on cornet, Yusuf Lateef on tenor sax, Joe Zawinul on piano, Sam Jones on bass & Louis Hayes on drums. There's nothing like great jazz musicians playing live. Cannonball In Europe was originally released on Riverside but it was one of the masters Adderley took with him when he left the label. It was reissued on Landmark and Capitol released it on CD for the first time in 2005. Cannonball Adderley died on Aug. 8, 1975 of a stroke at age 46.
