Pro Wrestling WAVE debut

Pro Wrestling WAVE had their debut show on Aug. 26 at Shin-kiba 1st Ring with 425 fans in attendance. The main point of interest for this show and for this promotion in general is the return of former JD Star Athtress Yumi Ohka after almost two years off with a serious knee injury. She made her return on last month's JD Star finale but Ohka herself admitted that this would be a real test for her. Would her knees hold up?

Let's look at the results for the rest of the show first. The Opening Wave had GAMI over Kyoko Kimura in 14:58. Rookie Wave was a fifteen minute draw between the sisters Io & Bi and Hiroyo Matsumoto & Misaki Ohata. Comical Wave had GAMI & The Bolshoi Kid defeat Tanny Mouse & Yuki Miyazaki. It appears that GAMI won the match over Miyazaki at 14:28 by holding her down with an open umbrella. I thought it was bad luck to open an umbrella indoors. Challenge Wave had KAORU defeat Shuu Shibutani with a splash at 13:01.

The main event was called Resurrection Wave. It's Yumi Ohka & Michiko Ohmukai against the veteran team of Toshie Uematsu & Ran YuYu. Uematsu said before the match that she planned to turn Ohka's return match into a retirement match. Ohka said she wanted to show a different side of herself in this match. Ohmukai started the match but eventually Ohka tagged in. Uematsu & Ran attacked her knee as they should. Ohka came back with a high kick and an elbow smash but Ran pinned her at 20:48 with an elbow smash. Afterwards, Ohka was relieved and very happy with the match. She posted on her blog that she has pain in both knees and underwent treatment on Monday. She knows she has to be careful but tentativeness tends to cause injury. Pro Wrestling WAVE's next show is Sept. 3 at Shin-kiba 1st Ring and they will be in Osaka on Sept. 23.
