This version of the Billy Strayhorn classic Take The "A" Train has a lot of energy. Musicians are Craig Taborn on piano, Jaribu Shahid on bass and Tani Tabbal on drums. The CD would be a very good introduction to his music. Carter is capable of performing many different jazz styles. He continues to be very popular. He was on Atlantic Records for several years. His most recent CD is a 2005 tribute to Pavement called Gold Sounds. James Carter has proven to be a very strong young musician and is keeping jazz alive.
