Paul Simon was already famous when Mother And Child Reunion was a hit in 1972. It marked the end of his partnership with Art Garfunkel and he also switched from Columbia to Warner Bros. It built him a good foundation for his future records such as Graceland. There are several Simon comps available including a 3CD box set. This 2CD Essential Paul Simon was released in June. It seems to cover only his solo recordings on Warner Bros. and includes material he has recorded since Graceland including his 2006 CD Surprise. It is also available with a bonus DVD with all the music videos from Graceland and performances from Saturday Night Live and The Dick Cavett Show. The main difference between this and the Paul Simon 1964-1993 box set is the box set has Simon & Garfunkel songs and this doesn't. I couldn't find a video of Paul Simon performing Mother And Child Reunion so here he is performing Me And Julio Down By The Schoolyard on MTV Unplugged 1992.
