Of course Chaka Khan is best known for her days with the group Rufus and her 1984 cover of Prince's I Feel For U which has been a past song of the day. She's been touring but she really hadn't recorded much in recent years. This new CD Funk This was produced mostly by Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis and is somewhat of a return to Chaka's R & B roots. She had done some jazz and even recorded with the London Symphony. Chaka sounds great and she does some new material and some covers including the old Rufus song You Got The Love featuring Rufus guitarist Tony Maiden. The CD is on the new Sony BMG label Burgundy. The label is supposed to bring classic artists back doing new material so it's a bit of a nostalgia deal. Mary J. Blige & Michael McDonald also appear so it looks like Chaka Khan is back.
