Artist:Delaney & Bonnie & Friends

Song:Where There's A Will, There's A Way

Album:On Tour With Eric Clapton

The husband/wife duo of Delaney & Bonnie Bramlett made some very strong records for a couple of years. It didn't last but the music still holds up well. Delaney Bramlett was born July 1, 1939 in Pontotoc County, MS. In the mid 60s he moved to Los Angeles and became a session musician. Bonnie Lynn O'Farrill was born Nov. 8, 1944 in Acton, IL. She sang backup for blues singers in the St. Louis area and became the first white Ikette. She also moved to LA and the two met and got married. Their music can be best described as blue eyed soul. After a false start with Stax, they signed with Atlantic in 1969. Delaney & Bonnie met Eric Clapton while opening for Blind Faith. When the group broke up, Clapton joined Delaney & Bonnie. Having Clapton in the band opened the door for his pals George Harrison & Dave Mason to appear with the band too. On Tour With Eric Clapton was recorded in Croydon on Delaney & Bonnie's tour of England. It cracked the top 30 in the US. Clapton left in 1970 to record a solo album. Delaney & Bonnie managed to stay together and had a couple more hits but they divorced in 1972. Individually, they have occasionally recorded without much success. Bonnie is best known under the name Bonnie Sheridan and she was a regular on the sitcom Roseanne for a while. So Delaney & Bonnie was a short lived but musically strong group. Here's Delaney & Bonnie with Eric Clapton & Dave Mason performing an acoustic version of Poor Elijah in 1969.
