Hyuga vs Cherry in Union main event

I normally wouldn't discuss a joshi match on a men's show because they're time fillers for the most part. But Union decided to have a joshi match for their main event on the Mar. 5 Shin-kiba 1st Ring show. This was a big deal for Cherry because she the only joshi wrestler working for Union. She's there mostly as eye candy as she has limited experience for her age. That's her gimmick too. "She doesn't look her age." Fortunately, Union brought Azumi Hyuga in for this match. She's one of the best wrestlers in Japan and is capable of getting a decent match out of anyone.

Hyuga had tweaked her knee at Sunday's JWP show but she's capable of working through it. She has a history of knee problems. The match starts with the two exchanging elbows followed by a Hyuga face buster. Hyuga follows this with a surfboard and a body scissors and trns her over for a 2 count. Then a camel clutch, a knee lift followed by chops & elbows. Then Hyuga applies the Rita Romero Special followed by a double arm back breaker.

Cherry comes back with a bulldog followed by a swinging neck breaker. She mounts Hyuga and nails her with elbows. Hyuga shakes her off, delivers a sidewalk slam followed by a diving knee drop to the back of the head and a missile kick for a 2 count. A double arm salto gets another 2 count. Cherry comes back with a Quebrada but Hyuga attempts a Boston crab. Cherry blocks it and hits a flying neck breaker.

Cherry chases Hyuga up to the top turnbuckle but Hyuga knocks her off and hits a missile dropkick for 2 count. Hyuga tries for a German suplex. Cherry blocks it and tries for a victory roll but Hyuga blocks it and hits a German suplex for a 2 count. Another 2 count after a DDT. Cherry gets an Achilles hold but Hyuga rolls out of it and hits a superkick followed by a T-bone suplex.

Cherry comes back with a German suplex for a 2 count. She follows this with a sloppy looking Shining Wizard but then Hyuga shows her how to do it properly. Cherry goes up for her Cherry Bomb but Hyuga gets out of the way and it misses. Hyuga hits a cross arm suplex for a 2 count. They exchange elbows and Hyuga follows a knee kick with a low dropkick for 2. Hyuga whips Cherry into the ropes and nails her with a jumping high kick. Then a Michinoku Driver 2 and Hyuga wins at 14:01. Of course no one expected Cherry to win but this was a big deal for her and she thanked Union and all the fans for their support.
