MAKEHEN youngsters get schooled by veterans

MAKEHEN had their very first joshi show on June 1 at Shin-kiba 1st Ring. I don't know if company owner Tomo Hashimoto is going to do more of these shows. I guess the problem with this show is all four of his joshi wrestlers are young and inexperienced and it's tough to put them in there with veterans who may take liberties with them. But he needs the veterans to draw. So the show had a squash theme to it. And one wrestler got something a little extra after she lost. Hailey Hatred returned to MAKEHEN and Alexa Thatcher made her Japanese debut.

The opener had Io Shirai against Commando Bolshoi. Bolshoi is probably the most charitable veteran on the show. The match starts with standard chain wrestling and then Bolshoi walks the top rope and gets Io in an arm wringer. Bolshoi continues to work on the arm but Io gets away and hits her with a dropkick in the corner. She follows this with a cartwheel hip attack and a face buster. Io gets more offense in followed by a 619. Bolshoi comes back with her own 619. Io hits a moonsault but then misses a second and Bolshoi wins with that Sensei stretch hold.

Next up is KAORU vs Yuka Matsuya. You may recall that Matsuya is a 22 year old actress who started training with MAKEHEN in December. Hashimoto is known to approach pretty girls and offer them wrestling training. That's how he found the Shirai sisters and Matsuya. I haven't seen her name come up in other joshi companies so I believe she has only been working for MAKEHEN. Would this be her first match against someone like KAORU? Yikes! She's very pretty but she must have that idol wrestler deer in the headlights look. The match begins with a test of strength and KAORU stomps on her hands. KAORU follows this with kicks and ties her up in the ropes. Then KAORU takes her outside the ring, slams her head on the apron, hits her with a garbage can followed by more mayhem. Back in the ring, KAORU clobbers her with a board followed by a suplex on the board. Matsuya comes back with a dropkick followed by a vertical suplex for a two count. She goes up to the top rope for a cross body but KAORU hits her with a dropkick on Matsuya's way down. KAORU hits a German suplex and finishes Matsuya with a Valkyrie splash. Obviously it was a very rough match for Matsuya.

Next up was Alexa Thatcher teaming with AKINO vs Toshie Uematsu & Kana. AKINO works on Kana's arm and then Thatcher & AKINO hit a double dropkick to Kana's head. Kana gets revenge on the floor. Back in the ring, Uematsu uses heel tactics on AKINO and Kana helps with a double team. Thatcher hits Uematsu with a dropkick in the corner. Then they both pound on Uematsu. Then Kana & Uematsu trap Thatcher in their corner and Kana chokes her with her foot while Uematsu distracts the ref. Kana follows with a suplex and a butt bump and Uematsu stomps Thatcher in the corner. AKINO tags in and hits Uematsu with a cross body from the top. Kana tags in and AKINO gets her in an armbar. Uematsu breaks it up. AKINO nails her with a high kick and sets her up for Thatcher's high kick. The end comes with AKINO's jumping cross arm breaker. AKINO & Alexa Thatcher win.

Next was a Woman Vader Confrontation between Nanae Takahashi & Hailey Hatred. Of course MAKEHEN owner Tomo Hashimoto is good friends with Vader. They're evenly matched in size and they start with a test of strength. It's mostly chain wrestling until Hailey hits a backdrop. Takahashi comes back with a missile dropkick. Hailey slams her outside the ring and kicks her in the head when she tries to get back in. Takahashi tries to come back but Hailey hits a backdrop suplex followed by a sidewalk slam and a fisherman suplex. But then Takahashi hits a Shining Wizard and they both go flying over the top rope to the floor. They fight on the apron until Takahashi pulls Hailey to the floor. They continue to struggle until both are counted out. Maybe we'll get a rematch sometime.

Next was Aja Kong vs Mika Mizunuma. Mizunuma is a bit different because unlike the other MAKEHEN girls, she's not an idol wrestler. She's a big girl kind of like...oh...Aja Kong. The match begins with a test of strength. Aja chops her but no sells when Mizunuma returns the chop. Aja proceeds to brutalize her with kicks & chops followed by a dropkick. She finishes her off with a diving body press. Holy mackeral! Aja wasn't very happy. She slapped Mizunuma and berated her for her performance in the match. Mizunuma tried to shout back but Aja slapped her again. The ref and the other MAKEHEN wrestlers tried to stop Aja but Aja stomped her again. She told her "The difference between you & me is I am a fat person who can move and you are a fat person who cannot move". That's quite a message.

The main event was Mayumi Ozaki vs Mio Shirai in what was billed as Ultimate Beauty vs Evil. Ozaki isn't going to give her a break. She will beat the crap out of her. Mio tries some dropkicks but Ozaki traps her in the ropes. Ozaki tosses her across the ring, gets her in a camel clutch and pulls her hair and bites her hand and then pulls her arms back in a surfboard. Io hits a face crusher followed by a cross arm breaker but Ozaki regains control and beats her up in the corner. Then Ozaki brings out her chain and after a brief struggle, wraps the chain around her neck and tosses her over the top rope and hangs her by the chain. Ozaki beats her up some more on the floor. Back in the ring, Ozaki misses a top rope senton and Mio hits a swinging DDT. Then Ozaki misses a guillotine leg drop and Mio hits a soccer kick to Ozaki's back. Mio hits a hurricanrana for a two count. Mio then hits her Purple Flash kick but then misses a second one. Ozaki nails her with two spinning back fists for the win. Apparently Mio had quite the bruise on her jaw afterwards.
