Yahoo LAUNCHCAST Song Of The Day-Dave Davies

Artist:Dave Davies

Song:Rock Siva

Album:Fractured Mindz

Dave Davies is best known for his days with The Kinks but he usually took a back seat to his brother Ray Davies. Over the years he has been reluctant to record solo. This 2007 CD is his comeback after recovering from a stroke. He was born Feb. 3, 1947 in London. He started The Kinks in 1963 and of course they were one of the best British Invasion bands. He actually had a solo hit in England in 1967 with Death Of A Clown but he mostly stayed within The Kinks until the 80s. His 80s solo albums with RCA & Warner Bros. didn't go anywhere. He wrote his autobiography Kink in 1996 and with the 1998 comp Unfinished Business: Dave Davies Kronikles 1963-1998, he appeared to be in semi-retirement. But Davies returned to recording with the 2002 album Bug on Koch Records. His hard rocking sound showed that he still had it. But Davies suffered a stroke June 30, 2004 while promoting Bug. He made his first public appearance when The Kinks were inducted into the British Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame in Nov. 2005 and Fractured Mindz is his return to recording. He has plans to tour later this year. Here's a promo video for Fractured Mindz by Dave Davies.
