Yahoo LAUNCHCAST Song Of The Day-Roy Rogers

Artist:Roy Rogers
Song:My Lost Home In Your Arms
Album:Pleasure & Pain

No this isn't about cowboy music but the great slide guitarist Roy Rogers was named after the singing cowboy. A while back I talked a bit about his work with Norton Buffalo but he's recorded some great albums of his own too. He was born July 28, 1950 in Redding, CA. He started out in the 70s playing in Bay Area bar bands. In 1976 he released an album with harmonica player David Burgin called A Foot In The Door. Rogers started his own band Delta Rhythm Kings in 1980. He joined John Lee Hooker's band in 1982 and stayed for four years. Then he started recording his own albums. He also plays a lot of sessions and duet albums with folks like Norton Buffalo & Shana Morrison (Van Morrison's daughter). Pleasure & Pain was released in 1998 on Point Blank Records and his very typical of Rogers' music. Sammy Hagar makes a guest appearance. He's a very strong musician so I recommend him to slide guitar fans. His most recent CD is a duet album with Ray Manzarek of The Doors called Ballads Before The Rain released Apr. 2008 on Friday Music. Here's a video of Bad Situation by Roy Rogers.
