Jango Song Of The Day-Tom Rush

Artist:Tom Rush
Song:No Regrets
Album:The Very Best Of Tom Rush: No Regrets

Tom Rush was a big part of the 60s folk boom but he never had the commercial success of his contemporaries so he got lost in the shuffle and was somewhat forgotten over the years. But he has always been an excellent interpreter of songs and occasionally has written standards like No Regrets. He was born Feb. 8, 1941 in Portsmouth, NH. He started performing in 1961 while he was majoring in English Literature at Harvard. He first recorded for Prestige Records in 1962 and moved to Elektra in 1965. No Regrets is from his 1968 album The Circle Game. Rush records three Joni Mitchell songs and along with Judy Collins has been credited with exposing Joni to a wider audience. Today No Regrets is considered a standard and has been covered by Emmylou Harris among others. Rush moved to Columbia in 1970 and though he's always been critically acclaimed, his lack of commercial success prevented him from recording much in the 80s & 90s. Sony Legacy released this comp in 1999 and it covers his Prestige, Elektra & Columbia recordings and it is recommended. Tom Rush continues to live in New Hampshire and has been recording occasionally in recent years. His latest CD What I Know was released on Appleseed Records in Feb. 2009. Here's Tom Rush performing No Regrets in San Diego Feb. 2007.
