Kaufman vs Baszler now scheduled for three five minute rounds

After last week's announcement that the Gina Carano vs Cristiane Cyborg match will have five minute rounds, it appears that Strikeforce is finally getting the message that fans and fighters want women's matches to have five minute rounds. Today Strikeforce Director Of Communications Mike Afromowicz told MMA Junkie that the June 19 fight between Sarah Kaufman and Shayna Baszler (pictured) will now be scheduled for three five minute rounds. The event will be in Kent, WA and it's interesting to note that Washington state requires all MMA matches to be scheduled for five minute rounds. This is actually better news than last week's announcement because though Afromowicz said that each fight will be judged individually, it's now likely that all women's matches in Strikeforce will have five minute rounds and that's what fighters and fans want. I guess the fan response to last week's announcement was when are all women's matches going to be five minute rounds. It should be a great match and the show will be June 19 on Showtime in the US and SuperChannel in Canada.
