Carano/Cyborg press conference a yawnfest

So I watched the Strikeforce press conference for the Aug. 15 match between Gina Carano and Cristiane Cyborg broadcast live from the WaMu Theater at Madison Square Garden. It was streamed live at Strikeforce.com. I did a live tweet on my Twitter. First, it was scheduled to begin at 2:30PM but started a half hour late and they knew there was an open workout for the press scheduled for 4PM. Boooooo! for starting late. And there were technical issues with the feed. The audio was jumpy and cutting out and the feed itself cut out several times until it gave out completely near the end. Ring announcer Jimmy Lennon Jr. hosted the press conference. He said Strikeforce owner Scott Coker wasn't there. He was there but he wanted the attention to be on the fighters so he didn't come out until the end. There were no revelations from either Carano or Cyborg. As usual, the media questions were stupid. Can you believe that no one asked these two about making weight? Instead they ask if they train with men, a question Gina had already answered and the difference between men's and women's MMA. Huh? And the usual nonsense about Gina being "the face of women's MMA". Gina said she wants to see other weight classes for women in Strikeforce. That's an issue Coker needs to address. Check out the title belt in the pic. It looks like another great Reggie Parks belt. So that was the press conference and just to keep you going, here's Gina Carano on FOX News' MMA Fight Game with Mike Straka. Enjoy!

  1. I'm also surprised at the questions they asked, you would've figured better from professional reporters. It was not one of Strikeforce's best conferences. At least that fox sports reporter new what to ask Gina. And that whole weight issue, I agree with Gina its only when they go down to 140 that she and Cyborg seems to have trouble because they are both big girls, but they are both about the same size so going down to 145 shouldn't be a problem for either one of them when it comes time fro the weigh in.
