Emi Fujino to join joshi puroresu company Ice Ribbon

The Ice Ribbon joshi puroresu company announced today that MMA fighter Emi Fujino has begun training for her pro wrestling debut scheduled for August. That's her in white in the pic. Keep in mind that in Japan there is a frequent crossover between MMA and pro wrestling. Megumi Yabushita has done both for her entire career. Ice Ribbon is owned by joshi wrestler Sakura Emi and the interesting thing is most of their shows aren't in a ring but on mats. I don't know if this is a full time gig for Fujino but Ice Ribbon runs several small shows per week. I'm not a big fan of their use of preteen girls. Fujino's MMA record is 8-3 but she's lost her last three fights. And she had to be disappointed when she was finessed by V1 as part of the #1 contender tournament for Yuka Tsuji's VALKYRIE Featherweight Championship. And she had beaten V1 in 2007. You may also recall that Fujino was supposed to fight Fuuka on a Sept. 2007 Smackgirl show. And when Fuuka dropped out due to injury, Fujino cut a scathing promo on Fuuka in the ring. I think she'd still like to get her hands on Fuuka. There's no reason why she couldn't continue MMA. She's a very good fighter.
