Lisa Marie Varon ready to fight

Of course most fans are familiar with Lisa Marie Varon from her days as Victoria in the WWE and now as Tara in TNA. When she left the WWE, she announced that she might be interested in trying MMA. What some fans might not know is that Lisa was a competitive athlete long before she got into pro wrestling. She participated in fitness pageants and triathalons before becoming a pro wrestler. The TNA schedule allows her to try other things. Last week there was an article in the Dayton Daily News with someone saying he's her agent calling out Kim Couture. Lisa says on her MySpace that he's not her agent and she plans to represent herself. Lisa has owned her own businesses for years. It appears that the guy was floating a trial baloon to guage interest in her. She says a promoter offered her a fight with Kim Couture last month but lisa turned it down because "the numbers weren't right". Then in an interview at the Stikeforce show, Kim Couture said she didn't know who Lisa is and she looked big. Lisa says she walks around at about 150lb but would have no problem cutting to 135. I doubt she will do that as 145lb is a quicker way to Lisa's goal in MMA. There's less competition at 145. Lisa says she is training daily with veteran female boxer Terri Blair, Brazilian jiu jitsu coach Helio Soneca (I think that's him in the accompanying pic) and former Pride, UFC and WEC fighter Alex Steibling. Lisa says she's ready for a fight today. Those of us who have watched Lisa as a pro wrestler know that her work ethic and determination is what made her successful. That same work ethic could work in MMA too. I've seen her in TNA and she's in great shape. Lisa says she plans to attend next month's Strikeforce show in Oklahoma. Maybe she'll set up her debut at that time. I look forward to it.
