Dixie Carter still clueless about the wrestling business

I don't normally comment about the wrestling business in general. But if you were watching TNA Impact last night, you watched Mike Tenay's interview with TNA President Dixie Carter. TNA has posted the entire interview on Youtube and you can watch it here. In the past, my impression of Dixie Carter is she seems like a very nice person but is clueless about the wrestling business. There's no question that TNA has some very talented wrestlers on the roster. What we do question is how that talent is used. Recently Jim Cornette said that he left TNA for Ring Of Honor becauser he prefers working for a growing company than a shrinking company. I don't know if Hulk Hogan will give TNA the attitude adjustment it needs. But these kind of insipid interviews need to end if TNA is going to overcome shrinking TV ratings and flat PPV buyrates. Nowhere in this interview does Dixie Carter address what fans dislike about TNA; Vince Russo's illogical and nonsensical storylines, the desperate tone of the promotion, the constant run-ins and cluster**** matches, imitating WWE angles instead of being an alternative. Dixie Carter is either clueless or in denial. I don't know which but this interview is a real headscratcher. Check it out.

How can you expect them to address any weaknesses of the product? All this interview does is sugarcoat how stagnant TNA is right now. Dixie Carter is living in a vacuum if she's in this mindset.

While I don't think Hogan will 'ruin' TNA like many cynics of the IWC say, he will probably end up not adding much to the product inevitably. That's the way TNA has operated so far. Create a lot of buzz around themselves, acquire a few big names on the way, but then nothing big comes of it in the long term. Looking at the buyrates, TV ratings, etc TNA is in more or less the same position it was 2 or 3 years ago.
