Jango Song Of The Day-Charlotte Martin

Artist:Charlotte Martin
Song:Your Armor
Album:On Your Shore

Singer songwriter Charlotte Martin is a good example of how the record business uses talent and then spits it out if the artist doesn't top the charts. She had her fling with RCA in 2004 but now records independently. She was born Mar. 29, 1976 in Charleston, IL. Her father is a music professor at Eastern Illinois University. Charlotte was the 1994 Miss Teen Illinois USA and then graduated from EIU in 1998 with a bachelor's degree in vocal performance, majoring in opera. So she could have been an opera singer. But instead she moved to Los Angeles to pursue a music career. Her music is clearly influenced by singer songwriters like Laura Nyro and especially Kate Bush. She recorded an album in 2002 but it was not released. Then she met producer Ken Andrews (Pete Yorn, Tenacious D) and he released an EP called Test-Drive Songs independently. This got the attention of RCA Records. They released an EP in 2003 called Parentheses. A video for Your Armor was released. On Your Shore was released in 2004. That's her only major label release to date. Charlotte married Ken Andrews in 2005 and she gave birth to a son in 2008. She now records for her own Test Drive label with Piano Trees being her latest release in 2009. She's an accomplished pianist. She writes her own songs. She has a great voice. She looks good. What's not to like? Here's the video for Your Armor by Charlotte Martin.
