Jango Song Of The Day-Carrie Rodriguez

Artist:Carrie Rodriguez
Song:El Salvador
Album:She Ain't Me

Carrie Rodriguez is an outstanding singer, songwriter and fiddle player from Texas. The 2008 CD She Ain't Me was her major label debut but her next CD will be on a smaller label and that's probably a better fit for her. She was born in Austin 1978 and is the daughter of singer songwriter David Rodriguez. Carrie was spotted performing at the 2001 South By Southwest Music Festival in Austin by veteran singer songwriter producer Chip Taylor. BTW, his brother is actor Jon Voight. He took her on tour and they recorded several albums together on Train Wreck Records. Carrie recorded her solo debut CD Seven Angels On A Bicycle in 2006. But then she signed with EMI Records and split with Taylor. She Ain't Me is produced by Canadian Malcolm Burn. He's best known for his work with Emmylou Harris.  Rodriguez co-wrote El Salvador with former Jayhawks lead singer Gary Louris. She's obviously very talented and she looks good but I guess the CD didn't sell because Carrie's new CD Love And Circumstance is self produced and released. It's out on Mar. 16 and is produced by Lee Townsend with special guests Bill Frisell and Buddy Miller. If you haven't heard her before, here's Carrie Rodriguez performing El Salvador on Folk Alley.
