AccuRadio Song Of The Day-Ralph Tresvant

Artist:Ralph Tresvant
Song:Sensitivity
Album:Ralph Tresvant

Of course Ralph Tresvant is best known for his days with the 80s R & B group New Edition. He was the final member of the group to record solo and Sensitivity was his one big hit in 1990. He was born May 16, 1968 in Boston. Tresvant was not part of New Edition when Maurice Starr put the group together. But Tresvant was good friends with Bobby Brown and Ricky Bell and they thought he would make a great lead singer. So New Edition was very successful even after Brown left and was replaced by Johnny Gill. When New Edition split up after the 1988 album Heart Break, Brown, Gill and Bell Biv Devoe went on to chart success. But Tresvant was very reluctant to record a solo album. The production team of Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis had worked on Heart Break and convinced Tresvant that he could be successful. Sensitivity is from his 1990 debut Ralph Tresvant. The song was written and produced by Jam and Lewis. It topped the R & B Singles chart and reached #4 on the Billboard Hot 100. The album topped the R & B Album chart and went Platinum. The album is available as a budget CD. Subsequent singles did well on the R & B chart and Tresvant's song Money Can't Buy You Love from the Mo' Money soundtrack reached #2 on the R & B chart. Tresvant's 1994 CD It's Goin' Down didn't do nearly as well. Jam and Lewis only worked on two songs and Tresvant wrote most of the songs. Tresvant has been involved in the various New Edition reunions and he also toured with Bobby Brown and Johnny Gill as Heads Of State. And he is co-starring in the film Mama, I Want To Sing! starring R & B singer Ciara and scheduled for release Jan. 2011. Here's the video for Sensitivity by Ralph Tresvant.
