RENA isn't retiring...for now

RENA
So you may recall that SHOOT BOXING held a press conference recently to announce that RENA will be part of the 2011 S-Girls Cup tournament at SHIBUYA-AX on Aug. 19. Despite this, rumours had surfaced that RENA planed to retire. Yesterday SHOOT BOXING owner Takeshi Caesar held a press conference to announce that RENA is not retiring. Obviously that is unusual. But they didn't deny the rumour. In fact, RENA admitted that after losing the SB belt to Ai Takahashi, she considered retirement. Caesar convinced her to change her mind. One of the problems Caesar has with RENA is she doesn't train at the SHOOT BOXING HQ in Tokyo. She lives in Osaka and trains at the Oikawa Gym. Maybe he needs to keep a better eye on her. I'm not surprised by her retirement talk. Some people can't handle adversity. But now she says that after winning the 2009 and 2010 S-Girls Cup, she wants to threepeat. That will be a tall order with 18 year old kickboxing champ Erika Kamimura in the tournament. Despite her youth, Erika doesn't have that RENA babe factor. And she doesn't work for SHOOT BOXING. They haven't announced RENA's first round opponent yet. But I wonder what she'll do if she loses in the first round. That's why I say she isn't retiring...for now.
