AccuRadio Song Of The Day-Don Henley

Artist:Don Henley
Song:Dirty Laundry
Album:The Very Best Of Don Henley

Don Henley is best known as lead singer and drummer for Eagles. But he had a significant solo career in the 80s after the band split up. Dirty Laundry was his first hit and only top five hit in 1982. He was born July 22, 1947 in Gilmer, TX. He first recorded with his band Shiloh in 1970. Then he met Glenn Frey and they joined Linda Ronstadt's band. This led to the formation of Eagles and of course they were one of the most successful bands of the 70s and Henley wrote a lot of the songs with Frey. The long process of recording The Long Run led to tension mostly between Frey and Don Felder. So the various members went on to other things. Henley released his first solo album I Can't Stand Still in 1982. Dirty Laundry reached #3 on the Billboard Hot 100. It turned out to be his biggest solo single. The song is an indictment of news media told from the point of view of an anchorman. Joe Walsh from Eagles plays the first guitar solo and Steve Lukather of Toto plays the second one. Henley also had success with his 1984 album Building The Perfect Beast and the top five single The Boys Of Summer. And he also had success with the 1989 album and single The End Of Innocence. You can get all his hits on this comp. Eagles reformed in 1994 and Henley performs a lot of his songs on Eagles shows. He also went through a long battle to get out of his contract with Geffen Records and he wasn't able to record until it was settled. He recorded the CD Inside Job in 2000 and a live CD and DVD in 2002. He continues to tour with Eagles and is currently working on an album of country music covers with guests Ronnie Dunn and Alison Krauss. Here's Don Henley performing Dirty Laundry form the Inside Job DVD.
