AccuRadio Song Of The Day-The Boys 'N' The Barrels

Artist:The Boys 'N' The Barrels
Song:The Catnip Rag
Album:The Boys 'N' The Barrels

If you`re a bluegrass fan, you will want to check out The Boys 'N' The Barrels. They have released two albums. This one seems to be available on mp3 only. They are from Minneapolis led by Travis Palmer on vocals, banjo and harmonica. Other members are Nick Rodriguez on guitar, Chris Forsberg on fiddle, Josh Johnson on bass, Mike Wavinak on washboard and percussion and Chris Peters on mandolin. These guys have known each other for years and formed The Boys 'N' The Barrels in 2009. They have recorded two albums and will release a third one in April. Both albums are self released and these days it's much more economical to release independently on mp3 only. That way you can buy this album for less than ten bucks. The indie distributor CD Baby handles them and plenty of indie bands. With the use of the mandolin, the first influence I heard was David Grisman. I think bluegrass fans would enjoy The Boys 'N' The Barrels. The band has played mostly in the midwest. They do a lot of folk festivals. I'm not sure if they are looking to expand their reach with the third album. Bluegrass is not mainstream music but The Boys 'N' The Barrels are good and fans will find them. Here are The Boys 'N' The Barrels performing The Catnip Rag in the recording studio.
