AccuRadio Song Of the Day-Collin Raye

Artist:Collin Raye
Song:I Think About You
Album:16 Biggest Hits

Though Collin Raye never achieved the fame of Garth Brooks, he had a strong run in the 90s with a total of 18 top five country hits including I Think About You which reached #3 in 1995. He was born Floyd Elliott Wray Aug. 22, 1960 in De Queen, AR. His mom Lois Wray performed locally and opened for big name singers when they came to town. In the 80s, Floyd and his brother Scott formed the Wray Brothers Band. Floyd called himself Bubba Wray. They recorded a few singles for Mercury but nothing came of it and they split up. Floyd was going to quit the music business. But he decided to give it one last shot. He changed his name to Collin Raye and signed with Epic Records in 1990. His second single Love, Me was his first number one country hit in 1992. His first single from his second album In This Life also topped the charts and the album went Platinum. He also performed In This Life on the syndicated TV drama Street Justice. This show starred Carl Weathers and was filmed in Vancouver. Raye became known for his love songs and he crossed over to Adult Contemporary. I Think About You is the title song from his 1995 album. The single reached #3 on the Country Singles chart and the album was his fourth consecutive Platinum album. The music video won Video of the Year at the ACM Awards. I Think About You was written by veteran Nashville songwriters Don Schlitz and Steve Seskin. Both are award winning songwriters. Raye's final number one country hit was I Can Still Feel You in 1998. Then he started to fade and he left Epic in 2001. You can get all his hits on this budget CD. Since then he has recorded for small labels like Aspiron and Sagauro Road but not with the same success. His most recent CD was released in 2009. Collin Raye's days at the top of the country charts are likely over. But he had a good run in the 90s and he's still around. Here's the video for I Think About You by Collin Raye.
