AccuRadio Song Of The Day-Vince Vance & The Valiants

Artist:Vince Vance & The Valiants f/Lisa Layne
Song:All I Want For Christmas Is You
Album:All I Want For Christmas Is You

So I'm sure most folks are familiar with Mariah Carey's Christmas perennial All I Want For Christmas Is You. This All I Want For Christmas Is You by Vince Vance & The Valiants is a different song and a Christmas perennial in its own right. And it's the only hit single this band has had in its 40 year history. in the video, Vince Vance is the guy with the goofy haircut. His real name is Andrew John Franichevich Jr. He was born in Oakland, CA and grew up in New Orleans. He joined Vince Vance & The Valiants in 1971 as keyboard player and musical director. They were a knockoff of Sha Na Na. He became Vince Vance when the original left and the band has been a New Orleans party band since then. Their music is retro 50s Rock 'N' Roll. All I Want For Christmas Is You was first released in 1989. But when Malaco Records picked it up for distribution in 1994, it reached #55 on the Country Singles chart. It has continued to chart annually like many other Christmas songs. In this case, it helps that there is a video and that Lisa Layne delivers a really great vocal. Unfortunately, it has not been licensed to any various artists CDs but you can get it on this Vince Vance & The Valiants Christmas CD. The band has recorded four CDs and they celebrated their 40th anniversary in 2011. They're still kickin' in NOLA. Lisa Layne recorded All I Want For Christmas Is You on her own CD. Here's the video for All I Want For Christmas Is You by Vince Vance & The Valiants.
