AccuRadio Song Of The Day-David Wilcox

Artist:David Wilcox
Song:Rusty Old American Dream
Album:The Very Best Of David Wilcox

Not to be confused with veteran Canadian rocker David Wilcox, this David Wilcox is a folksinger originally from Ohio and he now lives in Asheville, NC. He has been recording since the late 80s and this CD is a comp of his early albums. Wilcox was born in the Cleveland suburb of Mentor, OH. He got interested in music and started taking guitar lessons while attending Warren Wilson College near Asheville, NC in 1981. After his 1985 graduation, he played local clubs and released an album independently in 1987. He signed with A & M Records in 1989. Rusty Old American Dream is from his 1989 A & M debut CD How Did You Find Me Here. The album sold 100,000 copies with no promotion. Though Wilcox is favourably compared to guys like James Taylor, John Martyn and Nick Drake, A & M had no idea about how to sell him. After four albums on A & M, Wilcox was dropped in 1994. This CD is a comp of his A & M recordings. After a couple of CDs on his own label, Wilcox recorded two CDs for Vanguard. He currently records for the Boulder, CO based indie label What Are Records. His latest CD Reverie was released in 2010. David Wilcox is currently on tour and participates regularly in songwriting and guitar instruction workshops. He has posted guitar instruction videos on Youtube. If you are a folk music fan, you don't want to overlook David Wilcox. Here is David Wilcox performing Rusty Old American Dream at the Crown of the Continent Guitar Festival in Big Fork, MT.
