Alexis Davis vs Rosi Sexton set for June 15 UFC show

Alexis Davis
Today the UFC announced on their UFC Canada Twitter account that Alexis Davis will face Rosi Sexton on UFC 161 in Winnipeg. It has also been announced that this will be on the main card of the PPV. Both are veterans though Rosi has been around a lot longer. Alexis is a native of Port Colborne, Ontario which is in the Niagara region of Ontario. She is one of the fighters who came to the UFC via Strikeforce. She moved to California a couple of years ago and trains at Cesar Gracie Academy. Her record is 13-5. I think she has improved since moving to California. Her last fight was a win over Shayna Baszler on the Jan. 5 Invicta show. That was a big win for her. Rosi is from Manchester, England. She trains at Next Generation. Her record is 13-2 and her last win was over Aisling Daly on the June 2 Cage Warriors show. Last fall Rosi suggested that she might retire. But who wouldn't want to fight in the UFC? She has fought mostly at 125lbs but has also fought at 135. And in Bellator, she was supposed to fight at 115. It's not that big of a deal for her or any other 125lb fighter to move up to 135 to get into the UFC. I expect more fighters to do that and eventually it should lead to a 125lb division in the UFC. There is a plausible scenario where that could happen in the near future but I won't reveal that yet. And with The Ultimate Fighter tryouts coming up, I expect all kinds of fighters to come out of the woodwork. And Invicta has said they won't prevent any of their fighters from trying out. But some are already whining that the UFC is deliberately using 125lb fighters to pad 135lb fighter records. Like Rosi Sexton would agree to do that. Absurd. Some people will never learn. I expect this to be a good fight. Both fighters are accomplished veterans.
