AccuRadio Song Of The Day-Little Big Town

Artist:Little Big Town
Song:Little White Church
Album:The Reason Why

The country group Little Big Town bounced around several record labels and had some success. But they finally struck Platinum with the 2010 CD The Reason Why and single Little White Church and are even bigger now. Little Big Town was formed in 1998. Before that, Karen Fairchild had been in the Christian group Truth and formed KarenLeigh with Leigh Cappillino of Point Of Grace. She met Kimberly Roads at Sanford State in Alabama and the two decided to move to Nashville. Jimi Westbrook was a friend of Karen's husband and started working with the two girls. Then they added Philip Sweet and named the group Little Big Town. They signed with Mercury Nashville but nothing came of that. There was conflict regarding the musical direction. They signed with Monument Records and released the 2002 CD Little Big Town. It did OK but Sony closed Monument and Little Big Town lost momentum. They signed with Equity Music Group in 2005, a company partially owned by Clint Black. They had sung backup on his records. The 2005 CD The Road To Here was the first time Little Big Town worked with producer Wayne Kirkpatrick and they worked with him for a few years. Bring It On Home was their first top five single and The Road To Here was certified Platinum. Their second Equity CD A Place To Land was released in 2007. It didn't do as well and Little Big Town announced they were leaving Equity for Capitol. The single Little White Church was released in Mar. 2010 and reached #6 on the Country Singles chart. The CD The Reason Why was released Aug. 2010 and topped the Country album chart. They toured opening for Sugarland. This set the table for the 2012 CD Tornado which was certified Platinum. On this CD, they worked with producer Jay Joyce. Pontoon was their first number one country hit and they won a Grammy and other awards. Little Big town is currently on tour. Karen Fairchild and Jimi Westbrook married in 2006 and have a son. Kimberly Roads remarried in 2006 and is now Kimberly Schlapman. Here's the video for Little White Church by Little Big Town.
