AccuRadio Song Of The Day-Alicia Myers

Artist:Alicia Myers
Song:You Get The Best From Me (Say, Say, Say)
Album:The Best Of One Way Featuring Al Hudson & Alicia Myers

Soul singer Alicia Myers is best known as lead singer of the late 70s group One Way. After she left in 1982, she had some solo success on the R & B and Dance charts. You Get The Best From Me (Say, Say, Say) was her biggest hit in 1984. Alicia was born Nov. 20, 1957 in Detroit. She moved to Los Angeles in 1972 and that's where she met Al Hudson. His group was called The Soul Partners at first and they signed with ABC Records. Alicia sang lead on the 1979 hit You Can Do It. When MCA Records bought ABC, they got Hudson to change the name of the group to One Way. Alicia left One Way to go solo in 1982 and was replaced by Candye Edwards who would go on to marry One Way bassist Kevin McCord. It was MCA's idea for Alicia to go solo. Alicia recorded five albums for MCA in the 80s. She hit the R & B charts with I Want To Thank You in 1982. And then she reached #5 on the R & B Singles chart with You Get The Best From Me in 1984. Though Alicia was not a member of One Way, Hudson and McCord wrote You Get The Best From Me and McCord produced all her albums. And that's why the best place to get this hit is on this One Way budget comp. Alicia Myers faded into obscurity in the late 80s and has toured extensively as a backup singer. She released a CD in 2011 on her own label. Here's the video for You Get The Best Of Me (Say, Say, Say) by Alicia Myers.
