In the 70s, Dan Seals had success as one half of England Dan & John Ford Coley with hits like I'd Really Love To See You Tonight. After they split up, Seals reinvented himself as a country artist with hits like Bop in 1985. He was born Feb. 8, 1948 in McCarney, TX. He is the brother of Jim Seals of Seals & Crofts. He was in bands in Dallas as a teen and formed England Dan & John Ford Coley with a classmate who was also a bandmate. They did very well in the 70s and split up in 1980. Seals recorded two albums for Atlantic that went nowhere. At first he recorded as England Dan but changed to Dan Seals. Then he signed with Capitol's country label Liberty Records and started to have chart success in the country market. God Must Be A Cowboy was his first top ten country hit in 1983. Then he had three more top ten hits from his 1984 album San Antone. But then he really broke through with the 1985 album Won't Be Blue Anymore. He had his first number one country hit with Meet Me in Montana, a duet with Marie Osmond. Then he had a solo number one with Bop followed by another number one hit Everything That Glitters (Is Not Gold). The album was certified Gold and so was the single Bop. Bop is Seals' biggest hit. The album was produced by Kyle Lehning who had produced all of Seals' albums. Bop was written by veteran singer songwriter Paul Davis (I Go Crazy) and Jennifer Kimball of the folk duo The Story. Davis played on the album. The sax solo is by Jim Horn. Seals had nine consecutive number one country hits in the 80s plus two more from his 1990 album Arrival. Then he left Capitol for Warner Bros. and wasn't as successful there. Country music had changed and Seals' 80s pop country sound needed to change. You can get all his hits on this CD.
