Of course Bobby Bare Jr. is the son of legendary country music singer songwriter Bobby Bare. He sang with his dad when he was a child. So it's not surprising that he would follow in his father's footsteps. He was born June 28, 1966 in Nashville. His mom Jeannie sang in dad's band. Growing up, his next door neighbours were George Jones and Tammy Wynette. In 1974 when Bare was eight years old, he recorded the song Daddy, What If with his dad and then toured with him. That record won a Grammy. The song was written by Shel Silverstein. Bare began writing while earning a degree in psychology at the University of Tennessee. He sent the songs to Silverstein for evaluation. And that's why a lot of Bare's songs like Visit Me In Music City conain humour and satire. It's Silverstein's influence. Bare started out with his rock band Bare Jr. in the 90s and recorded two albums for the heavy metal label Immortal Records. Then he formed his country group Young Criminals' Starvation League and mostly he has recorded for the alt country label Bloodshot Records. Visit Me In Music City is a very funny song from the 2004 CD From The End Of Your Leash. Bare wrote the song with Tony Crow of Lambchop who played keyboards on the album. A lot of different musicians go through his band. Bare's latest CD Undefeated was released Apr. 2014 and he is currently on tour. Also a Bobby Bare Jr. documentary Don't Follow Me (I'm Lost) has been touring the festival circuit.
