AccuRadio Song Of The Day-Rachelle Ferrell

Artist:Rachelle Ferrell
Song:'Til You Come Back To Me
Album:Rachelle Ferrell

Though mainly known as a jazz singer, Rachelle Ferrell had some R & B chart success in the early 90s. "Til You Come Back To Me was her biggest hit in 1992. She was born May 21, 1964 in Berwyn, PA. She began singing as a child and eventually developed a six octave vocal range. Her father agreed to buy her a piano on the condition that she learn to be a professional musician. She studied at Berklee in Boston. Her classmates included Branford Marsalis, Kevin Eubanks, Donald Harrison and Jeff "Tain" Watts. Then she got into backup singing with Lou Rawls, Patti Labelle and Vanessa Williams. Then she signed with Capitol Records. Rachelle's 1990 debut CD Rachelle Ferrell was a jazz CD produced by drummer Lenny White. It was released only in Japan. Her 1992 CD Rachelle Ferrell was more in the R & B vein produced mostly by George Duke. 'Til You Come Back To Me reached #19 on the R & B Singles chart. No it's not the Stevie Wonder classic. 'Til You Come Back To Me was written by singer Karyn White (Superwoman), background singer Valerie Davis and session musician Steve "The Scotsman" Harvey. I don't think Karyn ever recorded this song. The album Rachelle Ferrell was certified Gold. Rachelle recorded two more albums for Capitol. And they also released a live CD in 2002. That's the last time an album was released under her name. Rachelle still tours and she occasionally does guest shots. Duke used her on most of his albums. She also appeared on the 2009 CD Charles Aznavour and The Clayton-Hamilton Jazz Orchestra. Here's the video for 'Til You Come Back To Me by Rachelle Ferrell.
