AccuRadio Song Of The Day-The Dwarf Chorus

Artist:The Dwarf Chorus
Song:Heigh-Ho
Album:Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs: Original Motion Picture Soundtrack and Story

Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs was the very first movie with a soundtrack release. Movie soundtracks were not common until the 50s. But today it's unusual for a film to not have a soundtrack CD. Just another Walt Disney innovation. Of course Snow White was the very first full length animated feature. Obviously it was a huge hit. The film score was written by Leigh Harline and Paul J. Smith. Harline, Frank Churchill and Larry Morey wrote the songs. Heigh-Ho is one of the most popular songs from the film performed by The Dwarf Chorus. So who was in The Dwarf Chorus? Well, there was Roy Atwell who played Doc, Pinto Colvig who played Grumpy. Colvig is best known as the voice of Goofy and he is one of the all time great voice actors. There was Billy Gilbert who played Sneezy. Gilbert was a comic actor known for his work with Laurel and Hardy. Otis Harlan played Happy and Scotty Mattraw played Bashful. Disney has this bad habit of releasing CDs and DVDs of its films for a limited time and they are out of print for years. Back in 1937, the soundtrack was released on 78s. They released a full soundtrack on CD for Snow White in 1993. But it is out of print and this 1987 version which comes with a storybook is the only version available. Maybe it's time for a rerelease. Here's The Dwarf Chorus performing Heigh-Ho from the 1937 film Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs.
