Christine Ebersole appears on TV and in films. But she is best known for winning two Tony awards. the first of these was for the 2001 revival of 42nd Street. She was born Feb. 21, 1953 in Winnetka, IL. Her dad was president of a steel company in Milwaukee. After attending the American Academy of the Dramatic Arts in New York, Christine sang in New York clubs and then made her TV debut in 1977 in the daytime soap Ryan's Hope. Then she was in the 1981-82 cast of Saturday Night Live. She was nominated for an Emmy for her run on the daytime soap One Life To Live. Then she co-starred with Barnard Hughes in the sitcom The Cavanaughs. Christine was in movies like Tootsie and Amadeus. She had been on the New York stage but nothing notable. She starred in the 1992 Fox sitcom Rachel Gunn R.N. and in the 1993 Bette Midler TV movie of the musical Gypsy. For most of the 90s she's doing TV guest shots and some films. Then she gets the call to play Dorothy Brock in the 2001 revival of 42nd Street which was a movie in the 30s. She won a Tony and then she won a second Tony for the 2006 musical Grey Gardens. The cast album of 42nd Street is out of print. but Christine has recorded a couple of albums on Ghostlight Records with pianist Billy Stritch who was also in 42nd Street and they recorded I Only Have Eyes For You in 2008. Christine appeared in the USA Network series Royal Pains and the TBS sitcom Sullivan & Son. She is about to open on Broadway in the new musical War Paint on Apr. 6.
